    It was a bittersweet ending.

Tyrion got to be a Kingmaker.

Jon got a happy ending. He was probably not going to be happy as a king, he never actually took the vows again to be in the nights watch. Now he can eventually take wife and raise a family.

Sansa got to be a queen, Arya got to be an explorer I hope someday it will be revealed what is west of Westeros.

Westeros has a king who will not let negative emotions rule him. (Bran doesn't seem to have any sort of emotions at all, negative or otherwise.) He does seem to have a good mentor in Tyrion.

I can easily see the main points as Martin's ending. (Meaning how the Starks and Tyrion end up, who is king, etc)

The problem for Benioff and Weiss is that they weren't able to get from their 7 season setup to the actual end in a logical manner. The rushed last season along with lazy and in some ways typical TV writing give you the main ending but not the feeling that it made sense. I'm surprised they wanted this rushed final season as their legacy, as it exposes them as subpar show-runners/writers.

This actually makes me hope Martin can finish the series, to see his version of how all this happens.
