The episode was very riveting but the action was a little too one-note. I would have preferred to see more rise and fall, back and forth in the course of the battle, not one side basically dominating all the way through, especially given Jon and Dany weeding out with the dragons what should have been at least half of the army of the dead. I imagined the Night King would send in his lieutenants and the main characters would get to face off against some of them with some characters dying and some winning. And when they won, large numbers of the dead would collapse with them, only the Night King would raise all the freshly killed (which he did do here as well, but he was already winning so it wasn't as meaningful). Sending the Dothraki out into the dark just seemed stupid.

GoT is famous for killing off characters in surprise twists, but the surprise twist here was that there were few deaths. I think there were only 6 name character deaths: Beric, Dolorous Edd, Jorah, Lyanna, Melisandre, Theon (and possibly Ghost), and 4 of those were pretty much a given.

Arya must now be the most badass warrior in Westeros. I mean she just saved the world! Beric's purpose being to save Arya was a nice touch. Of course right then, I knew what her destiny was.

I liked the Dothraki, it built the suspense nicely.

Melisandra was the MVP, she contributed a lot more than any one person, except Arya.

The Night King sure didn't want to fight Jon one on one. It was interesting to show how he didn't want to face Jon, the guy who was ressurected by the Lord of Light and also how he very much was focused on Bran, to then turn around and get killed by thier weird little sister. It was fitting for him to be killed by a 'pure' Stark.

Arya, in many ways is the best character. Jon was born special and then ressurected, Bran is a chosen one who can see and control so much, Dany can control dragons. Arya had to learn and go through her own trials to become special.

Nice closure from Theon.

Glad that Rhaegar and Drogan made it through.
